Cherry red with violet reflexes; in the nose a broad aroma, slightly vegetal paired with fruity aromas, in the background also some cinnamon and truffles; on the palate very balanced with a medium acidity and long finish.
La Vizcaína was created in 2011 and is a new project of the Spanish star oenologist Raúl Pérez. He was named Wine Grower of the Year in 2012 by the magazine "The Gourmet".
Raúl Pérez wants to take on a new challenge in this second Bierzo wine cellar. His aim is to revive the old indigenous grape varieties. La Vizcaína has 4 wines from 2 hectares. vines in Valtuille de Abajo, a small wine-growing village where Raúl was born and grew up, and where he founded his first wine cellar Bodegas y Viñedos in 2005. The vines grow on mostly clayey and loamy soils and he generally makes the work in the vineyard as natural as possible. Raúl uses only indigenous yeast varieties and his wines are not filtered.
