Mario Schiopetto was born in 1930. He gained experience as a fireman and later as a truck driver. Among other things, he helps his father with the selection of wine for the family inn, which he takes over after his parents' death. In 1965 he produces the first pure "Tocai". Thus begins the era of Friulian white wine, which transforms the concept of Italian white wine. In the following years Mario becomes part of a group of Italian winemakers who improve and modernise the production method of Italian wine. For this he travels with Luigi Veronelli through Europe and the United States to understand other wines and meet local winemakers. In the 80's Mario became part of the elite of Italian wine producers and became a teacher and mentor of many young winemakers. The vineyards in the municipalities of Capriva, Zegla, Pradis and Oleis, were leased and upgraded by Mario in 1970 until they came into his possession in 1989. He took care of every detail and focused on the potential of the "Ponca soils" (typical Friulian marly soils with a high concentration of lime and clay). French elegance, German technology and Friulian grapes. These are the cornerstones of the Schiopetto style. To bring out the full elegance and origin of the wines, stainless steel is preferred in the production process. In 2014 the company was sold by the three children to the Rotolo family, who continue Mario's mission.
