Deep red colour; with a wonderfully complex nose; fresh and pure, with discreet wood; fruity structure in the mouth; present, fine-grained tannin; long and intense finish.
Vinification
each variety fermented separately in large oak barrels, without the addition of yeasts. Matured for 18-24 months in French oak barrels. Barriques, 1/5 of which are new.

This winery was founded in 1984 by Michele Satta. After a few ups and downs, he established himself at the top of the Maremma producers. The Maremma area (near Grosseto), with its calcareous soils and vineyards facing the sea, has a great potential for quality. The area has gained world fame thanks to the Sassicaia. In 1993 Michele Satta started a trial and planted Cabernet and Merlot, soon followed by Syrah vines on about 7 hectares. These varieties are vinified separately and later used to assemblage for his famous Piastraia or the new Bolgheri DOC. Meanwhile the winery covers 25 hectares of vineyards.
