Satta Michele
This winery was founded in 1984 by Michele Satta and has established itself at the top of the Maremma wineries. The Maremma area (near Grosseto), with its limestone soils and vineyards facing the sea, has great potential for quality. The area gained world fame thanks to the Sassicaia. In 1993 Michele Satta started a trial and planted Cabernet and Merlot, and soon Syrah vines followed on about 7 ha. These varieties are vinified individually and later used in the blend for his famous Piastraia or the new Bolgheri DOC. In the meantime, the winery covers 25 ha of vineyards.
