Ruffino - A Tuscan winery with history and vision

Tuesday, November 19, 2024

The Ruffino winery, founded in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, has its origins in the enchanting region of Tuscany and has always stood for the values of quality, tradition and innovation in Italian viticulture. What once began as a small family business quickly developed into a globally recognized brand that played a key role in shaping the production and reputation of Tuscan wines.

Ruffino has made a name for itself in particular through its role as a pioneer of Chianti Classico. As early as 1890, the winery received international attention when it was chosen as the official wine supplier to the Italian royal family. This prestigious association put the winery on the international stage and contributed to the creation of the iconic Riserva Ducale, a wine that still stands for outstanding quality and elegance today.

In addition to its deep roots in tradition, Ruffino also focuses on innovation. The winery was one of the first to experiment with the so-called Supertuscans - wines that combine the traditional grape varieties and methods of the region with modern techniques and international varieties such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. This constant pursuit of excellence led Ruffino to a place among the best wine producers in the world.

Another of Ruffino's key concerns is sustainability. In keeping with its respect for nature and the traditional values of Tuscan viticulture, the winery is committed to environmentally friendly practices and the promotion of biodiversity. Ruffino has even been awarded Biodiversity Friendly certification for its efforts.

A special highlight of the "Meet the Winemaker" event: Olga Fusari, Ruffino's renowned oenologist, will be there in person. As the winery's leading winemaker, Olga Fusari will share her many years of expertise and passion for Tuscan wines and provide fascinating insights into the art and science behind the world-famous Ruffino wines. You can experience first-hand how she combines tradition with modern winemaking to create wines that impress with their finesse and depth.

Experience the magic of Tuscany and the history of a winery that stands for the combination of tradition and innovation like no other - and enjoy the opportunity to taste some of the best wines of the region under the guidance of Olga Fusari.
