Notes
Deep, almost impenetrable ruby color. The aromas range from dried flowers to black berry fruits, with notes of plum, tobacco, cocoa, spices and the ever-present balsamic note typical of the Solinga Valley. In the mouth it shows pronounced, fine-grained tannins and a firm, robust structure. It is full and broad, intense, fleshy and long.
Vinification
After destemming, the must remains in contact with the skins for at least 20 days. After racking, the wine is aged for at least 12 months in wooden barrels of different sizes. Another 6 months bottle aging
Producer
PICCHIONI
The adventure began in 1988 with the discovery of some old vineyards on the hills of Canneto Pavese, which were considered particularly suitable for the production of top quality wines. Restoring these vineyards was a great challenge for Andrea Picchioni, but one that was met with enthusiasm. The Picchioni winery is located on a small plot of about seven hectares in the Solinga Valley. The vineyards grow on a steep, south-facing slope on sandy and gravelly soil. The endless summer days give the grapes all the energy they need to fully ripen: The vines fight for every single drop of water in the light and heat.
