LA VIZCAINA
La Vizcaína was born in 2011, a new project of the Spanish star oenologist Raúl Pérez. He was named winemaker of the year in 2012 by the magazine "der Feinschmecker". Raúl Pérez wants to take on a new challenge in this second Bierzo winery. His goal is to revive the old native grape varieties. La Vizcaína has 4 wines from 2 ha. Vines in Valtuille de Abajo, a small winemaking village where Raúl was also born and raised, and where he founded his first winery Bodegas y Viñedos in 2005. The vines grow on mostly clay and loamy soils and he generally makes the work in the vineyard as natural as possible. Raúl uses only native yeasts and his wines are not filtered.
