Notes
Intense red with violet-purple reflections; the nose is clean and precise, small black fruits combine with the harmonious aromas of plum and cherry, accompanied by vanilla with spicy licorice. Concentrated but already balanced on the palate. The finish with lively and dense tannins is long and ends with notes of vanilla and cherry. The 2017 season was certainly one of the most complex in the last 20 years, which reduced the total production to 27,000 bottles compared to the 35,000 of a regular vintage.
Vinification
Reading and selection by hand. Each variety and plot is harvested and vinified separately. The malolactic fermentation takes place in barriques. Ageing in barrique for 18 months.
Accompanying
red meat, roasts, game dishes
Producer
COLLAZZI
Carlo Marchi bought the winery in 1933, and the estate is situated in the heart of the Chianti Classico area and extends over 390 hectares of land. Only 20 hectares are planted with vines and another 100 hectares with olive trees. The winery belongs to the Marchesi di Frescobaldi family, one of the most famous wine-producing families in Italy, to which the Tenuta di Ornellaia also belongs. However, Collazzi is managed independently of the group and can therefore commit itself without exception to a sustainable quality philosophy. Great importance is attached to careful and selective work in the vineyard, the harvest is done by hand.
